Hello dear reader!
In order for me to tell you about my latest pet project, I feel obliged to give you a bit of context. A few weeks ago, I was discussing with Elena (https://www.linkedin.com/in/elena-gordaliza-18163a63) that I never seem to remember when I opened my contact lens. Whats even worse, there are some months when I use them a lot (I have to renew them monthly) and others when I barely use them. Elena, for those of you who know her, is an unparalleled problem solver, with an amazing eye for design, quality and user experience. You might have heard of some of our previous collaborations like iReform, MemoPark, or “El Cocinero Salsero“.
So, with a lot more time that we are used to on our hands, and an impossibility to leave home we decided to tackle this problem. We had been talking about making an App to track contact lens usage for a long time, so it was important to make sure that we did it right. From the word go, we both decided this was yet another amazing opportunity to delve further into Flutter. This way we could keep one single codebase and target both iOS and Android. To be honest, my idea was to do something fairly simple, even borderline utilitarian that was aimed mainly at myself. However, Elena had a very ambitious plan to make a complete health eye suite, one that told when you to renew your lenses and what the usage day after day was, with monthly reports. We also invested huge amounts of time (yep, staying at home helps for this ;)), in creating cool animated charts and something with a visual punch. And finally, the name, she came up with it and just you have to love it: OhMyLens.
But hey, don’t take my word for it, check out how gorgeous it is below.
So, what can this do? Allow me to copy the App description 😉
Do you use Contact Lens? Can you never remember the day you opened them, or the usage you have given them? Then OhMyLens is here to simplify your life! It features extremely intuitive day tracking, so that you know when the time is ready to open a new pack, but it does not stop there. You can track how often you have used them to understand your complete eye health and how much wear the contact lens have regardless of the days opened. This is very helpful when you need to decide if you want to extend the expiration date on your current pack.
Thanks to the app you can generate a monthly report of the hourly usage per day and share it with whomever you want to.
Oh, and one more thing, it comes in black! OhMyLens will adapt to your device settings and adopt a cool dramatic look at night.
What are you waiting for? Download now and keep track of your contact lens and eye care!
You can see it in action in a demo video below too.
So, this is it. OhMyLens is now available for iOS and Android, and you can download using the following links. We honestly hope you enjoy it as much as we have making it. And hope that it helps you improve your contact lens tracking usage information and overall eye health.
Stay safe!
Until next time,
Pablo & Elena
