Do you have a gadget to find where your car is? Or a tool to find your friends when you are lost in the streets? What today seems easy, was just a dream a few years ago. We don´t even realise how location apps have changed our lives. Finding cars, finding friends, arriving on time, checking out the news, the weather, the new restaurants… Look at your installed apps: Wave Application, Park My Car, Cabify or Google Maps. We have shortlisted the most common situations in which you use location to make your life easier:
Find your friends – no more “where are you’s”
When you arrive late (we all do, sometimes 😉 ) and your friends are already gone it is difficult to meet them if they are heading somewhere and all you’ve got is a bunch of missed calls and unanswered messages. Here at Wave we found out the solution. Open a group on Wave Let’s Meet app with your friends and see where they are going or set a meeting point. Wave is 100% private so you all need to accept before you can start see each other on a live map. What’s new in the 3.0 is the Temporary Sharing – feature: now you can wave with the non-Wavers! Send your live location during 15 min to any of your contacts who don’t have Wave installed.
Find the car
Looking for your car trying to look like you’re just walking around? Right, this happened to most of us. The app that we liked most to solve this problem is My Car Locator, since it allows you to register accurately using the location your car and you can consult it whenever needed, as well as get directions to get to the car.
Park the car
Not only where you parked but where to park? The odyssey of everyone living in a big city. If it takes you 20 minutes to get to a place, you know you will at least have to add 10 more to find a parking spot. And that being lucky, right? Applications like Wazypark identify public garages in cities, airports or stadiums where you can see if there are places available and reserve them in advance. To park in the street, it allows you to see where there are spots left, thanks to comments from users who leave their place free at any given time.
Find your favorite restaurant or bar
Whether you need a vegan restaurant, a deluxe experience or just standard food, you only have to go to one of the world’s largest restaurant portals, Yelp, where you can find, thanks to your location, the most suitable one to your preferences. We love the amount of filters you have to sort out for prices, type of food, location and user ratings.
Find your date
We become more practical every day, and to find new friends in a city or to have an appointment we do not want to have to travel very far. Applications such as Tinder, Happn for dating and finding a romance are ideal tools that use our phone location as the first filter when it comes to finding our ideal partner for weekends or romantic dates.
What star do you have in front of you?
Astronomers or the more romantic ones also have a perfect application that identifies their location. Sky Map, from Google, allows you to observe the sky through the camera of your mobile device to know with which constellation you are facing. The compass and gps are the essential tools for this application.
GPS
There are so many and they are so good that we have tried a few, from classic Google Maps to some paid as Navigon. We like all of them, although we have fell in love with Here, a young promise that has delighted us with the indications of the type “follow the natural route of the road” that we believe are very intuitive and differ from the usual robotic language of all GPS we have.
