A ‘safety belt’ for outdoor sports
Joanna, 32, is a French teacher and climbs mounts and risks during the weekends around Albertville. The sportswoman knows every risk and every peak of the Eastern French geography. She has been doing it for a while, since she met some friends on social networks that share the same interests. She knows it is as funny as risky so she needs a good technology to ensure her safety by allowing other friends to see their location and find her fast if she needs. “You know, in the mountains there are not street signals, numbers or things that can you name when you are lost, so I need a precise real time technology that allows others and myself to find the rest of the group using sharing location”, she explained us.
“You never know what could happen to you up there, away from the eyes of the people. Although we climb in big groups, we usually break up into small ones”, admitted Joanna. “Two months ago I sprained my ankle and I had to wait alone for my teammates to help me get down the peak. Actually, I did not even have to pick up the cell phone, my colleagues opened the wave we have in group and immediately knew where I was on the map in real time”; she told us. “It was hard enough to think of getting down to even get worried about being lost”, she joked.
A beer out in a massive city
Jerry is a 48 year old engineer who lives in Bogotá, Colombia. He changed his city- Iowa- for love and lives happily in Colombia for a year with his wife, Daniela and his daughter, Flora. “Coming to live in Latin America was the best decision of my life and as time pass by, I feel more integrated in the culture of the country”, said Jerry. “Everything here is very colourful, the people are very friendly, but the city is one authentic odyssey”, admitted.
Bogota, with 8 million inhabitants, is a gigantic city divided into districts not very organised, with a large amount of daily traffic and a continuous traffic jams at all hours. “When I landed here I needed a tool that I can use daily to be connected with my people and help me understand this massive city. A colleague told me about Wave Application, a location – sharing app that connects me with my family, workmates and friends in real time only when I need to. When I go for a beer with my friends – that happens every week – or I eat out after work with my wife and her friends, I send them a request for 30 minutes, they accept it and we can see each other in real time on a private map. In addition, while I walk I chat and watch the streets they take, so I Iearn several routes to arrive that I know are good”, he said.
Work easier with people around
Kareem is a 24 years old tour guide who lives in Goa, India, one of the most touristic places in Asia and a place of concentration of its customers. “I live in Goa because I speak several languages and I can work of what I like, that is introducing the Indian culture, History and nature to others” Kareem explained to us. In a city like this it is usual to see the guides carrying bright posters for the group to follow.
However, it is a very inefficient way to lead because the city is full of street markets, food markets and long and crowded streets. “This way or working does not allow tourists to have freedom; they have to follow me all the time, even if they are tired or hungry” thought Kareem. “That’s why I started searching for a tool that would allow me to share my location with my customers only for a few hours and use technology to work better”, he said.
